A Lady Led The One Hour Ikorodu Robbery, Robbers Made Away With Over N80m

More details have emerged about the Ebute Ikorodu robbery which took place yesterday. According to sources, the robbery started around 9am in the morning and did not end until an hour after, 10:00am. Some set of young men stormed the Zenith Bank of Ebute Ikorodu led by a young lady and asked that the bank door be opened, obviously, the bank’s security guards who heard gunshots as the robbers announced themselves had already fled and when they got to the entrance they screamed at the people inside to open the door but no one answered.

They then used dynamite to shatter the rotor door to gain entrance. On entering the bank they went straight behind to the restricted area where bankers where and saw about N20m the bankers were arranging to put in bank’s ATM machine. One of them shouted, area zico see money wey we don dey look for, as if they won a jackpot they started laughing with so much delight. He then dragged one of the female bankers up and asked her to pack the money into a bag. He later asked her to lead him into the bank’s strong room were they made away with an extra N60m naira expected to be moved away by a bullion van.

While some people where at Zenith Bank robbing another set of the same robbers were operating at First Bank, just besides Zenith Bank as seen in the photo above, but the value of loot made at First Bank has still not been made public. The excited robbers later went in front of the police station just opposite the banks and challenged the policemen to come out and face them. They rained bullets down there in excitement before fleeing through a jetty from a nearby garden.

An okada man and a teenage vulcaniser were hit by stray bullets but they were lucky to have survived. A lot of customers also sustained injuries due to the bank rotor door explosion the robbers made to be able to gain entrance into the banking hall.

An RCCG pastor, Anayo Okpara who was few meters away from the incident wrote this on his Facebook page;

“This(Wednesday) morning, between the hours of 9am and 10am, I was a few meters away from the scene of a bank robbery at Ipakodo, Ebute, Ikorodu. The robbers operated with guns for about 30 minutes right opposite a police station.

“Everyone took cover, including the policemen; not even the military officers at the other end could come to the aid of the citizens. We were more like in a war scene with gunshots roaring for the entire 30 minutes.

“About 20 minutes after the robbers were done and gone, the whole place became flooded with policemen, I counted about 10 pickups, two armoured tanks and one OP MESA pickup van. Except the Lord watches a city, the watchmen stay awake in vain!”
