UPDATE: Explosion rocks Lagos killing 3 people (PICTURED)

Nigeria appears to be under siege has an explosion has been recorded in the Apapa area of Lagos killing three people.

This is coming about five hours after a bomb blast killed about 21 people at the Banex Plaza along Wuse 2 area of Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory.

According to report from The Cable Newspapers, the explosion was said to have to have occurred in front of Folawiyo fuel depot located on Creek Road.

The explosion reportedly happened about 8:30pm.

It is not clear if the explosion was an attack or an operational accident at the oil tank farm but several eyewitnesses say it is a bomb attack.

“It is a bomb. The police anti-bomb squad are on their way here. It is bomb blast.”

According to the witness, someone ran into the compound of the tank farm and detonated a bomb, killing three persons instantly.

“We were all scared as we heard the explosion and saw smoke everywhere. Apparently, the first explosion was meant to be a distraction, and then the person went into the compound to detonate the bomb,” she said.

Security agents had a few weeks ago warned citizens of an impending attack in Abuja with fuel tankers used as a form of explosive amplifier. It is, however, not clear if this explosion is somewhat connected to this security warning or just an isolated situation.

Lagos State government officials have, however, dismissed claims that it is a bomb blast.

We shall bring you more details as we get them.
