Six Nigerians have been apprehended by the police for allegedly forging the signatures of the President, Inspector General of Police (IGP) and the letter heads of some state institutions for their fraudulent activities.

Documents bearing forged signatures of state officers and six state institutions including that of the Office of the President, Ghana Police Service, the High Court, VAT Service and others were some of the things retrieved.
In addition, the police also retrieved eight of their laptops which they used in transacting their business.
The suspects are now in police custody assisting in investigations after being charged with forging of signatures and fake documents and deceiving a public office.
Briefing DAILY GUIDE, Chief Superintendent Paul Kontomah, the Accra Regional Crime Officer, said the
suspects were arrested in the morning of Monday June 9, 2014, at Ayensu Estate near Adenta, upon a tip off.
Police received information that the six had rented an apartment at the Ayensu Estate near Adenta for their dubious activities.
When police raided the house around 6:00am Monday morning, the suspects were seen busily browsing the internet with their laptops.
The letterheads of the aforementioned institutions were recovered from the suspects, who had written letters using the forged letterheads and posing as heads of the state institutions, including the President and the inspector general of police to transact some international business.
When they were interrogated, the suspects gave police fake names and attempted to hide their real identities.
‘They have been charged and would be taken to court to face the law,’ Chief Superintendent Kontomah added.
