The Special Offences Court, Alausa, Ikeja, on Thursday sentenced 26 commercial sex workers to six-hour community service each for soliciting sex and disturbing the peace.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the magistrate, Mrs O. Kushanu gave the judgment after the women aged between 21 years and 25 years, pleaded guilty to the two-count charge.
Kushanu also advised the ladies not to involve themselves in such illicit activities anymore.
She told the community service officials to supervise the work of the convicts and then set them free.
The prosecutor, Babatunde Sunmonu, told the court that the convicts were residing at the Oniru area of Lekki, and that they committed the offence on 7 October.
According to Sunmonu, the women were arrested by the police, following a tip off on their illegal activities.
