The people of Anyamkor area of Gboko town in Benue State were yesterday thrown into mourning when a family of seven was burnt to death in a house fire. Mr Lawani Oye, a motor mechanic, his wife simply called Mama Tunde and their five children were all consumed by the fire in the densely populated commercial town.
LEADERSHIP Weekend gathered that the ugly incident which occurred at about 11.40pm on Thursday was triggered by an electrical spark that abruptly started in a part of the two bedroom flat.
Witnesses say the uncontrollable fire ravaged Mr Oye’s flat before it spread to the other apartments in the building. They further stated that it was one of the victims, Mama Tunde, who raised the alarm when the fire broke out.
