Breaking: Another Bomb Blast Rocks Jos

                             

There was no information regarding casualty figures as at press time. Audu Yohana, the NEMA Zonal Information Officer in Jos  said the bomb had exploded on Murtala Mohammed near the main campus of University of Jos . He said  emergency responders were afraid to approach the scene of the latest explosion for fear that another bomb might be planted nearby. Four days ago, two major bombs exploded 30 minutes apart, killing over 200 people at the city’s crowded Terminus market.


                             
Another bomb blast this night rocked the city of Jos, capital of Plateau State in Nigeria’s Middle Belt. It was the third bomb explosion in the formerly quiescent city in less than a week. A security agent and two Jos residents told SaharaReporters over the phone that today’s blast occurred around 9 p.m. Nigerian time around a center where people had gathered to watch a soccer match.

Less than a week after multiple explosion killed over 200 people in Jos, the Plateau State capital, another round of explosion has gone off in the city Saturday night, residents and security officials say.
Residents say the explosion occurred along Bauchi Road near the University of Jos, Jos North Local Government Area.
The sound of the explosion was heard in Jos South LGA, about 25 kilometres away from the scene.
A witness, Tank Shittu, who rushed to the scene five minutes after the blast, said the explosion occurred near a car park, few meters away from a security checkpoint.


Updates 11. 18 pm:
“There has been an explosion in Jos,” Manzo Ezekiel, spokesman for the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), told AFP but said it was not clear what caused the blast nor if there were casualties.

Pam Ayuba, spokesman for the Plateau state governor Jonah Jang, said the blast happened on Bauchi Road at about 9:30 pm (2030 GMT) and appeared to target football fans watching the European Champions League final.

According to Reuters, Mohammed Shittu, a local journalist at the scene said as the bomber approached Jos View Centre he failed to get there before his car exploded,killing just him...
