Nollywood actor, Muna Obiekwe is dead

  

As you read this, Nigeria's movie industry, Nollywood has been thrown into another round of mourning. That's because the industry just lost one of its brightest actors in the person of fair-skinned actor, Muna Obiekwe. The actor passed away Sunday afternoon, January 18, 2015 in a hospital in Festac, Lagos.

Obiekwe had been battling with kidney disease for a long time which he reportedly kept secret from his colleagues . His condition deteriorated in recent times, which eventually led to his death.

Sources revealed that Obiekwe  was rushed to the hospital on Sunday morning after he was found vomiting at home. 
            

Unfortunately, he lost the battle and passed away in the hospital.

Meanwhile earlier Sunday, various reports emerged which caused some sort of controversy about his death. While a quarter said that the actor had passed away in the afternoon of Sunday, January 18, 2015 in a hospital in Festac, Lagos, another report from Pulse Nigeria surfaced few hours ago that the actor has come out to deny reports that he is dead.

A third report via the Net Nigeria, said Obiekwe had claimed via a tweet he posted on a Twitter handle, @MunaObiekwe, that he was still hail and hearty.

"People should mind what they post as stories, sound the alarm and tell others that I,Muna Obiekwe is alive and well…

I’m not a social media type that comes here everyday, I just logged in now just in time to see some fake news about my enemy being dead…E b like say I go dey sleep for twitter incase of dis kind news..:) lol", the tweet read. 

Meanwhile,Daily Times has confirmed that the twitter handle @MunaObiekwe is not the real twitter account of the actor. Below are other tweets that attest to the fact that the popular actor is dead:

"We have spoken to industry sources, and there are indications that @MunaObiekwe is a fake account. The truth will soon be revealed. We stand by our report that Nollywood actor, MUNA OBIEKWE has passed away, Furthermore, we state that @MunaObiekwe is a fake account," Nllywood's official twitter handle tweeted.

Again, the social media has been flooded with mourning tweets from Nollywood's industry icons like Uche Jombo. 

""It's not the length of life but the depth of life" RIP muna!," Uche Jombo tweeted. 

Speaking with President of Actors' Guild of Nigeria, Ibinabor Fiberesima on a telephone conversation, she confirmed the actor's death.

"Yes it's true.We lost Muna," she said. 

Before his death, Muna was widely known for his roles in x-rated movies.
