Golfers' anger at being frisked when Barack Obama arrived to play a round

 

Members of Martha’s Vineyard golf club forced to submit to searches ahead of President’s visit.

Members of a smart golf club on Martha’s Vineyard were angered after being forced to submit to body searches ahead of an unexpected visit by President Barack Obama.

The President, a keen golfer, arrived to play a round at the Vineyard Golf Club on the Massachusetts holiday island where he is currently on holiday.

Some regulars at the club were said to have been irritated at being frisked by Mr Obama’s security detail, who used hand-held metal detector "wands" to check for concealed weapons.

One told the New York Post: “There was no warning he was coming. There was security on the way in, but no word as to why they were there.

“While eating overlooking the golf course, guests had to stand up and be 'wanded'.”
