After much delay, the new album of reggae icon, Majek Fashek will be unveiled and released next month. The musician has been in and out of the studios for years now trying to reinvent himself and drop a new album many years after he dropped the last one.

Majek Fashek was at the Lagos State High Court, Ikeja last Wednesday in company of King Wadada to render support to his friend and colleague Victor Essiet aka The Mandators who’s charging the Nigeria Police Force for assault.

Our correspondent approached the rainmaker who was in a hired taxi with Wadada and introduced himself. “Hello Boss, I’m Sam from Leadership, a friend of Hajia Dangajia”. Majek responded, “Oh! How are you? Can you get me lighter and a pack of cigarette?” Our correspondent in a desire to please the reggae star went around looking for a cigarette vendor and finally got one outside the premises as the gatemen and plain-cloth security men discussed in hush tones about Majek’s presence in the court.

‘Majek what about your album ‘Dancing Rasta’, we’ve not heard much about it”, the conversation continued after I returned with a pack of B&H and matches for the singer to indulge himself. Majek responded, “My album is ready now, it’ll come out in June. Can I have your number?” The singer was obviously in good health as he waited to see the ‘Rat Race’ hit crooner, Mandators before leaving the premises. Majek Fashek, The Mandators and King Wadada formerly Prince Wadada were reggae singers of repute who hit the air waves in late 80s and 90s, the latter coming into the music scene much later with his ‘Holy Holy Holy’ hit song. Majek made more fame and got wide recognition with his fastest selling debut album entitled Prisoner of Conscience- having many hit tracks. Now in 2015, the rainmaker is struggling to keep the fame after his much publicized failing health and home trouble.a
