KWARA STATE GOVT,UNILORIN RESOLVE FUED

The controversy over the temporary relocation of an agency of Kwara State government to the temporary site of the University of Ilorin has been resolved by the state government and the University Authorities.

At a meeting with management of the University led by its Vice Chancellor, Prof. AbdulGaniy Ambali, Kwara State delegation led by the Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Isiaka Ishola Gold, explained that the relocation of Kwara State Internal Revenue Service to the University’s temporary site was a temporary measure expected to last not more than three months.

Gold who regretted the inconveniences and controversies generated by the relocation, assured the University authorities that the Kwara State government holds the University and other federal agencies in the state in high esteem and would never work to strain the relationship.

Responding on behalf of the University, the Vice Chancellor, Prof. AbdulGaniy Ambali who acknowledged the age long robust relationship between the institution and the state government, expressed optimism that status quo subsists pending the 90 days request by the state. Prof. Ambali thanked the state government for the promptness with which it handled the matter and invited the state government to the University's upcoming 40th anniversary.

It could be recalled that when the University was to take off in 1975 the premises of the then Government Technical College, Ilorin was allocated for its speedy take off , pending the completion of its Permanent site. The University had since moved major part of its activities to its wide expanse of land outside the city capital.
