"My pipo, my pipo" will remain a slogan in Imo State for another four years as Governor Rochas Okorocha has secured the mandate of his people to govern them for another four years. After a long battle, he won the governorship rerun election on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, APC.
Okorocha defeated Deputy Speaker of the House of Reps, Emeka Ihedioha of the Peoples Democratic Party by polling 416,996 votes while Ihedioha got 320,705.
The PDP governorship candidate in Abia, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu, however, won by beating Dr. Alex Otti of APGA with 264,713 votes to 180,882.
The PDP’s Darius Ishaku of Taraba State is said to be ahead of the Senator Aisha Alhassan of the APC with the results that came in as at press time.
The re-run elections on Saturday were marred by voter apathy as most of the polling units in the affected states recorded low turnout of voters. But winners have emerged as prescribed by law.
