The Nigerian military on today has issued an official confirmation to reports that Abubakar Shekau, the eccentric leader of Boko Haram has being killed. Officially, the military insists the real Mr. Shekau was killed by soldiers more than a year ago, but that his character had been assumed by another leader of the deadly group.

The impersonator is the man who appeared in several Boko Haram propaganda videos, claiming he is Mr. Shekau, the military said.

FINALLY FOUND: Sick Chibok Girl Abandoned By Boko Haram

  

A girl believed to be one of the missing Chibok girls in Boko Haram’s captivity has been found close to the village of Kwarihi near Mubi in Borno State, where she was abandoned.

She was said to have been thrown out of a moving Volkswagen Golf car into a bush where she wandered for two days before been seen. This was disclosed yesterday, September 24, by Hosea Tsambido, the Chairman of the Chibok community while speaking at the gathering of the #BringBackOurGirls campaigners in Abuja.

According to him, the girl who looked like she was mentally unstable gave her name as Susanna Ishaya. She was picked up at Kwarihi village and handed over to one of the Chibok parents who took her to the hospital after which she would be properly questioned.

Another kidnap! Chinese expatriate abducted by gunmen in Kogi

A Chinese national, who was a government consultant in the country, has been kidnapped by gunmen, from his residence in Kogi state, on Tuesday, 23 September.

Kogi police spokesperson, Elvis Aguebor confirmed the abduction saying, “The incident happened in the early hours of Tuesday when armed men stormed the official residential quarters of the Kogi State Water Corporation and abducted a Chinese national.”

Catholic Bishops slam Oritsejafor: It is wrong for a man of God to always be around the president

 

The leadership of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Nigeria has accused the President of Christian Association of Nigeria, Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor, of smearing the image of the body, saying it was wrong for his private plane to be associated with the controversial arms deal in South Africa.The Bishops said military aircrafts could have been conveniently used for that purpose.

The management of Egypt Air, which was accused of maltreatment and wrongful deportation of a Nigerian medical student, Joshua Kunle Abdul-Azeez, studying in Ukraine and tearing his Nigerian international passport has admitted making a mistake and offered to compensate the student.

This followed an intervention by the House of Representatives Committee on Diaspora. Having received a complaint filed against Egypt Air, the committee, led by Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa yesterday met with representatives of the Airline on circumstances surrounding the alleged negligence, harassment and deportation of the complainant back to Nigeria aboard Egypt Air.

Algerian Militants behead French Hostage in support of ISIS

   

After promising to kill him if France didn't stop bombing ISIS in Iraq, Herve Gourdel, 55,who was captured by Islamist group Jund al-Khilifa on Sunday has been beheaded- just one day after he arrived in the country on holiday.

In a video posted on YouTube that showed the white-haired, bespectacled Gourdel surrounded by masked men holding Kalashnikov rifles, the group had threatened to kill their hostage by the end of the night if Paris did not stop air strikes in Iraq, where ISIS controls large areas.

‘I built 2 houses from robbery proceeds’

A 55-year-old man alleged to be the leader of a robbery gang that specialises in attacking vehicles conveying goods to other states of the federation, yesterday, told a crowd at the Lagos State Police Command that he has used proceeds from robbery to build two houses.

white bearded suspect, a father of two, identified as Jude Dike, who was paraded alongside six other suspected members of the gang, disclosed that he started robbery three years ago.

However, himself and other suspected members of his gang were arrested last Saturday, by men of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad, around Ebutte Metta area of Lagos.

Attack on Ekiti Judge: Police arraign 6 suspects, summon PDP, APC

Ado Ekiti—The police in Ekiti State have charged six persons suspected to have disrupted the court on Monday in Ado Ekiti before a magistrate’s court in the state capital.

The accused persons, according to Police Prosecutor,  Corporal Oriyomi Akinwale are Raji Wasiu, 23; Ayo Ogunlana, 28; Fasusi George, 38; Arogbuwa Diya, 35; Adewumi Gbenga, 30 and Adewumi Kehinde, 44.

He said the accused committed the offence on September 22 at about noon, at High Court 6, in Ado-Ekiti.

Oriyomi said the accused obstructed the course of justice and caused disturbance in the course of judicial proceedings.

He added that they intentionally disrespected Justice Isaac Ogunyemi during his judicial proceedings, saying that they also damaged the entrance to the courtroom.

The prosecutor claimed that the offence contravened Section 133,451,126(1) of the Criminal Code,Cap C 16, Laws of Ekiti State, 2012.

NJC Endorsed Rivers Ag Chief Judge (Daisy Okocha) Break Into High Court With Battalion Of Policemen

  

The political tension which engulfed Rivers State is rebuilding as the state Commissioner of Police, Dan Bature, yesterday led Justice Daisy Okocha, who was appointed administrative judge by the National Judicial Council (NJC) into the court premises in Port Harcourt to preside over a meeting of judges.

The court premises had been sealed by members of the Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria (JUSUN) when they embarked on an indefinite strike following conflicting directives from the state government and NJC over who should be the chief judge of the state.

Yesterday, about 20 heavily armed policemen who arrived in three operational Toyota Hilux Vans broke the main gate of the state high court at about 10.30a.m. to lead  Okocha into the premises of the court.

The gates of the court had been locked since June 10 when the judiciary workers went on strike.

THISDAY gathered that Okocha arrived the court at about 9.30a.m. but could not go in because the chain with which the gates were normally locked had been further reinforced.

The main gate, according to a source, had been welded to prevent entry.

She was said to have driven to the headquarters of the state Police Command, along Moscow Road, to inform the Commissioner of Police.

Government House Director of Finance Killed and Buried Inside his Friend's Bedroom in Kebbi

What a terrible act! Kebbi State Government House’s director of finance, Alhaji Yahaya Saidu has been killed and buried by people suspected to be his business associates at Kwanawa area of Sokoto metropolis.

Briefing newsmen at the Police Command Headquarters, the PPRO, El-Mustapha Sani, a DSP, said sad the incident happened on the 15th of September but they got the report on the 18th and effected arrest on the 19th of September, 2014. The finance director was said to have been called for a meeting by his agent, Bello Ubandawaki who resides in Kwanawa area of Sokoto metropolis on the 15th.

Kaduna Killings: Nude Women Barricade Governor’s Convoy

  

Angered by the recent killings of over 50 persons in their villages, hundreds of half-nude women yesterday protested before the convoy of Governor Mukhtar Ramalan Yero in Sanga local government of Kaduna State, accusing the state government of neglecting to protect their lives and properties.

The half-nude women, dressed in black attire, booed and threw objects at the long convoy of the governor in Fadan Karshi, Sanga local government area.
