It seems the Anambra authorites are more lenient than those of Rivers state.

The situation has gotten very serious for some members of the Indigenous Peoples Of Biafra (IPOB) as about 20 supporters of the group facing trial before a Chief Magistrate’s Court in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, were yesterday denied bail by the court.

The trial of suspects in the murder of former Ekiti State Chairman of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Omolafe Aderiye, appears to have hit a snag in the court.

The accused persons in Aderiye’s murder are:

Adebayo Aderiye, Adeniyi Adedipe, Sola Durodola, Kayode Ajayi, Oso Farotimi, Sola Adenijo and Rotimi Olanbiwonnu.

The personal assistant of the deceased, Gbolahan Okeowo, is the star witness in the murder trial.

The star witness has confessed that he was ‘tutored’ by officials of the Ayo Fayose administration to implicate the accused persons and Adedeji Adesokan, a security aide to ex-Governor Kayode Fayemi.

Chief Edwin Clark, has dismissed insinuations that he betrayed Goodluck Jonathan by reportedly saying the ex-President lacked the political will to fight corruption, noting that he was maliciously misconstrued.

Clark, who was criticised by some associates of Jonathan over the statement, also denounced claims that his decision to quit partisan politics was provoked by the ex-President’s defeat at the polls.

He exonerated himself from the various allegations of betrayal levelled against him, and claimed that associates of the ex-President and some party leaders sold Jonathan out.

Nigeria’s President Muhammadu Buhari has been unanimously adopted by the African Union Advisory Board on Corruption, AUABC, to play a leading role in efforts to rid the continent of corruption.

This was disclosed on Thursday in Lagos by a member of the Board of the organisation, Isa Ozi Salami, at the formal launch of Nigeria’s foremost association of online newspaper publishers, the Guild of Corporate Online Publishers, GOCOP.

The Founder and President of Believers Loveworld Ministry, otherwise known as Christ Embassy, Rev. (Dr.) Chris Oyakhilome, on Friday announced a donation of N1 billion to Benson Idahosa University as part of his support to the institution which he described as one of the legacies of his mentor and role-model, the late Archbishop Benson Idahosa.

Oyakhilome announced the donation at a special Convocation Ceremony held at the institution where an honorary Doctor of Divinity degree was conferred on him. According to the televangelist, the financial support was to facilitate the Faculty of Engineering project in the Benin City-campus of the institution.

The Clinton Police Department released sordid details about the recent kidnapping and subsequent sexual abuse of a Florida man visiting Jackson, Mississippi to participate in a bodybuilding competition.

The unnamed victim was walking through downtown Jackson when 43 year old Cathy Priest allegedly forced him by gunpoint into her Mazda Miata and drove him to her mobile home in nearby Clinton.

The victim’s hands and ankles were bound and a butt plug inserted into his rectum. He was then forced to perform oral sex on Melon for up to 4 hours at a time, over the course of seven days.

The victim's partial statement to police was:

"She made me eat her, you know, vagina and her anus despite me begging and crying for her to not make me do it. But she had a .357 pointed at me and said she’d shoot me in the foot. At one point, she tried to make me penetrate her, but I couldn’t get an erection, despite her giving me oral, and putting a vacuum cleaner hose over my penis and turning it on".

An undergraduate was hacked to death at Olorunfunmi Street in Oworo area of Lagos, on Thursday.32- year-old Lawal Afolabi Kunbi, was allegedly killed by a debtor trying to evade payment.

Kunbi, a business administration student of Lagos State Polytechnic, Isolo, reportedly received a telephone call from a private security guard, identified simply as Aliu, who lives on same street with him, to come and collect N32,000 owed him.

A senior police officer said the culprits used the fake currency to convince people that they could double their money and make them rich.

Family Demands Body Of 11-yr-old Girl Whose Guardian Raped To Death (Pictured)

More than five months after an 11-year-old girl was allegedly raped to death, her remains are yet to be released to her family for burial. Anurika Nathan, an 11-year-old native of Owo-Ahia Afor, Obingwa Local Government Area, Abia State, was allegedly raped to death by her guardian, and her parents are worried that her corpse had not been released for burial long after autopsy was concluded on it.

The Nation had reported the death of Anurika, the last female child of Mr. Chinenye Nathan, a civil servant in Abia State, in the house of her guardian in whose house she was working as a house help before her untimely death. The man had allegedly rushed Anurika to a private hospital in Umuahia after she went into coma, but the hospital referred her to the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Umuahia for urgent attention. It was learnt, however, that the girl died before they could get to the medical centre and her body was deposited in the hospital’s morgue.
