Thousands of Russians came out to mourn him
Thousands rallied in Moscow yesterday for slain Putin critic, Boris Nemtsovn in a rally he had intended to lead if he had seen two more days, to criticize Russia's policies on Ukraine, but was gunned down Friday night as he walked near the Kremlin with his 23-year old Ukrainian model companion.
The rally’s theme however changed as thousands came together to mourn the death of the former deputy prime minister.
Ukrainian President, Petro Poroshenko however thinks he was killed because he was about to reveal an information that would be damaging to the Russian Government.
"A few weeks ago I had a conversation with him on how to build relations between Ukraine and Russia, as we would like them to be. Boris said that he was going to make public the strong evidence for participation of the Russian armed forces in Ukraine. Someone was very afraid of that. Boris was not afraid, the executioners were afraid. They killed him," Poroshenko said.
So many Russians are still going to the spot Boris was shot with flowers to pay their last respect to him.
There was a heavy police presence, including at the scene of the killing
A rally was also held in St Petersburg. The banner says: "Boris Nemtsov - we won't forget, we won't forgive".
