Rivers state governor, Rotimi Amaechi has been a strong financial backer of the Buhari campaign.

According to PREMIUM TIMES, the party will be picking Buhari's VP from the South- West because delegates from the region gave Buhari 100% of their votes during the APC Presidential primaries. Though the South-South and South-East region voted for Buhari, significant portions of those votes were also shared with other candidates, including former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Governors Rabiu Kwankwaso of Kano and Rochas Okorocha of Imo State.
If Amaechi loses out, it is unclear which steps he'll take to protect his political future.
