As Much As $20bn Idle In Big Men’s Domiciliary Accounts

                    

The Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, has raised the alarm that about $20bn (N3.94tn) was lying idle in different domiciliary accounts of wealthy people in Nigeria.

The Deputy Governor, Financial System Surveillance, CBN, Dr. Joseph Nnana, said this at a meeting of the Joint Appropriation Committees of National Assembly with government officials on the 2016 budget.

Notorious Lagos gang leader and suspected serial killer, Adigun Oriyomi, has been sentenced to death by hanging by the Lagos State High Court sitting in Igbosere. Oriyomi was sentenced to death by Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo, after he was arraigned on multiple counts of murder. The court convicted him of killing his best friend, Femi Adekeye, in front of his four-year-old daughter.

PUNCH Metro had followed Oriyomi’s case since 2013 when he was arrested and released in controversial circumstances. The convict had been arrested for murder on September 9, 2013, and arraigned before the Ebute-Meta Magistrate’s Court where he confessed to being a member of the Black Axe Confraternity and owned up to four other murders between 2010 and 2013.

PDP Faction Breaks Out, Sets Up New Party

                           

A faction of the Peoples Democratic Party on Tuesday set up a new political party in Abuja. The party, which has yet to be registered, is known as the Peoples Mega Party.

The faction is led by Perry Opara, an aide to Goodluck Jonathan’s Political Adviser, Ahmed Gulak.

Recalled that only recently, Gukak declared himself as the national chairman of the PDP. But many members of the party rejected his leadership. The new party is believed to have been formed by persons working for aggrieved members of the PDP.

Badeh is still being held in the custody of the EFCC in Lagos over ongoing investigation into his roles in an alleged N4.4bn fraud involving NIMASA and other secret financial deals.
