Love Potion: Native Doctor Dupes 70-Year Old Woman (Photo)

A 48-year old native doctor has been arrested and charged before Ejigbo Magistrate’s court for allegedly defrauding a 70-year old jilted woman.

The woman, Grace Dinah, had contacted the native doctor to prepare her love potion that will enable her win back her husband after years of separation in Lagos State. The Osun State-born Akin Babalola allegedly collected N500,000 from Grace under false presence of preparing the love potion for her.

Instead of Babalola keeping his own part of the bargain, he allegedly duped the septuagenarian, claiming he could not prepare such medicine which might cause the death of her estranged husband.

Policeman, suspected robber die in gun battle in Calabar

                              

CALABAR— An attempt by a suspect to disarm a police corporal in Calabar, weekend, ended in the death of the Policeman, while colleagues of the dead policeman also gunned down the suspect. An eye witness who gave his name as Ikechuckwu, told Vanguard that a team of policemen on patrol stopped a taxi in front of 268 Murtala Muhammed highway (8 Miles) and asked two men seated at the back of the taxi to alight but they refused.

19 year old Nigerian Harvard student Saheela Ibraheem has been recognized as one of the World’s 50 smartest teenagers in 2015. Saheela, a neurologist undergraduate in Harvard was invited to the White house where she met with the Obamas who celebrated her great feat last Thursday Feb. 26th. She was one of those celebrated by the US government to mark ‘The Black History Month”.

A first look at Abdulateef (surname withheld) would give the impression of a young innocent boy who would not hurt a fly. Ordinarily, the fragile-looking 16-year-old SSS1 student looked odd to be a suspect undergoing interrogation at the anti-robbery section of the Department of Criminal Investigation, Ogun State Police Command. But the allegations against him are so weighty.

Crime Reports gathered that Abdulateef was arrested on January 18, 2015 at Lambe area of Ajuwon, Ogun State after he allegedly entered the residence of a 52-year-old neighbour in the dead of the night, dispossessed her of the sum of N16,500 and went ahead to rape her, not minding the age difference between them.

According to eye-witnesses, the man in the pic above stopped an Arik Flight he was on from taking off and all passengers - every single person was disembarked from the plane. LOOKING at the picture of two-year-old Lovelyn William will elicit tears from the heart of any human being. Unclad, with her mouth tapered, hands tied backwards and legs tied together, she lay on the floor of a room at Itori in Ogun State.

This young girl's stepmother, 28-year-old Christiana Faturoti, allegedly threw her there as a punishment because she soiled herself. After putting the child in the room, she padlocked it and left for her workplace.

                             

For over two hours on February 17, the little girl, who turned two on February 15, 2015, groaned and moaned, until a neighbour heard the sound and traced it to an unoccupied room which was padlocked. After peeping and seeing the girl in such a condition, the neighbour quickly alerted the police at Itori police station. Christiana was promptly arrested and is currently undergoing interrogation at the Anti-Human Trafficking section of the Department of Criminal Investigation, Ogun State Police Command.

UN probes N5000 insurance levy on unity schools

                              

Reprieve may have come for the parents of the 125,000 pupils in the 104 Federal Government Colleges as the Office of the Special Rapporteur on the right to education and Office of the Special Rapporteur on the human rights of internally displaced persons have confirmed to Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) that they are “studying and looking into the issues relating to the compulsory insurance levy of N5,000 per student imposed by the government.”

The Special Rapporteur on the right to education is also seeking “additional information on the scheme with reference if possible to other documents – which detail the requirements of the insurance scheme, along with any additional information you may have”

The development was disclosed by SERAP executive director Adetokunbo Mumuni in a statement dated 1 March 2015.

Sudan Using Child Soldiers To Fight Civil War- UN

                    

Hundreds of boys in South Sudan have been kidnapped and forced to become child soldiers, the United Nations children's agency says. The figure is a big increase on the 89 child abductions reported by Unicef last month.

Their latest statement blamed a militia group allied to the government.South Sudan is in a state of civil war with forces loyal to President Salva Kiir pitted against rebels led by former Vice-President Riek Machar. The campaign group Human Rights Watch has accused both sides of using child soldiers.
