APC insists on Ekweremadu’s removal as Deputy Senate Pres





The battle for the control of the National Assembly may be long drawn as the leadership of the APC has once again insisted on removing the Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu, of the minority PDP.
It was learnt that the ruling APC was still miffed that Ekweremadu emerged as the deputy senate president and had vowed never to allow “a senator from a minority party take over the duties statutorily assigned for the majority party.”

$2.1billion : Okonjo-Iweala might answer for missing funds

The immediate past Minister of Finance, Dr Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala might be called upon sooner rather than later to answer for missing billions of dollars from the federation account.

Governor Adams Oshiomhole of Edo state has hinted that Okonjo-Iweala claimed that she left $4.1 billion in the federation account but that the Accountant General of the Federation reports otherwise.

Oshiomhole who spoke to journalists after the National Executive Council was inaugurated by President Muhammadu Buhari insinuated that the former World Bank, Managing Director, might have a case to answer.

Governor Adams Oshiomhole of Edo state has revealed that the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) is yet to remit $3.5trillion in the Federal Government coffers between 2012 and 2015.

Oshiomhole who is a member of a four-man committee set up to examine the accruals into and withdrawals from the Federation Account and the Excess Crude Account from 2012 to May 2015 stated this after the inauguration of the National Executive Council in Abuja on Monday.

2 nursing mothers have been killed after they were hit by bullets fired by a policeman at a funeral in Ivhiokhile quarters, Fugar, administrative headquarters of Etsako Central local government area of Edo State.

The policeman and his colleagues were said to have accompanied a traditional ruler in Uzaire clan, HRH Imonike Omogbai, to the event, but started shooting sporadically. A two-month-old baby strapped to the back of one of the victims narrowly escaped death as the bullet that hit the mother on the neck was few inches away from the baby.

Two domestic staff arrested for killing ex-FUTA Vice Chancellor

                                

TWO domestic staff of the kidnapped 78 year old former‎ Vice Chancellor of the Federal University of Technology Akure, FUTA in Ondo state, Prof. Albert Ilemobade have been arrested for allegedly murdering him and dumping his corpse inside his generator house.

The former Professor of Veterinary Medicine was said to have been strangulated Monday, last week by his ‎security man identified as Daniel and driver Yemi and dumped in the generator house before fleeing with one of his personal vehicle( a red RAV4 SUV).

Presidency orders VC, registrar of the Fed University of Otuoke to refund overpaid salaries

                              

The Presidency, through the National Salaries, Incomes and Wages Commission, has instructed the Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University, Otuoke, Bayelsa State, Prof. Mobolaji Aluko, to refund over payment of salaries running into millions of naira.

The Registrar of the university, David Suowari, was also directed to refundthe sum of N130, 692.71 per month in excess of his due salary. The over payments were said to have been discovered during the commission’s visit to the institution on May 12, 2015 to carry out an inspection of FUO’s remuneration practices vis-a-vis the extant government’s pay policy.

According to a report by SA newspaper Sowetanlive, 18 year old Boitumelo Dlamini was taken by four girls into a car, driven to a bush where they poured petrol on her and burnt her to death. One of the girls is the ex-girlfriend of the boy she's dating. Her charred body was found in the bush in Klipgat, North West, on Thursday June 25th.

Boitumelo's boyfriend's ex-girlfriend and three of her friends have been arrested for the crime and are facing murder charges and kidnapping. Boitumelo , 18, a Grade 12 pupil at Elepsa Secondary School, became romantically involved with Tokelo Makalepho, 24, from her village, six months ago.

Gunmen kill ex-security aide to Patience Jonathan

                     

A Deputy Superintendent of Police, Tamuno Jacob Igbomie, who was Principal Security Officer to former First Lady, Patience Jonathan, has been shot dead by unknown assailants.
Igbomie’s corpse was found in his Honda Accord car last Friday along the Airport Road, Abuja.

The former PSO, who was married with two children, was believed to have been killed by assassins who shot him at point-blank range in his car and left the engine running.
A source said the body of the DSP was found early in the morning with all his phones, wallet and other personal effects intact in the car.

Twin suicide bombers kill two in Borno

                           

Twin suicide bombers, yesterday, suspected to be targeting a market in Molai village on the outskirts of Maiduguri, Borno State capital,  detonated their explosives at the main gate of the Missionary Leprosy and General Hospital, Molai, killing two passersby.

The incident took place at about 3pm when the new market was at its peak. Molai village is south and about 10km drive to Maiduguri along the closed down Maiduguri-Damboa- Biu Road.

Buhari Orders Arrest of His Wife’s Younger Brother over Fraud

                               


President Muhammadu Buhari has ordered Nigeria’s security agents to arrest his brother-in-law for allegedly extorting money from an unnamed businessman, a close confidante of the Nigerian leader told SR. He said the suspect, named Musa Yola, was the immediate younger brother of Buhari’s wife.

The source disclosed that Musa Yola, also addressed as “Alhaji Yola,” reportedly received N300m from a businessman after promising to provide his dupe with political access to secure an oil block from the Buhari administration.

NUJ To Shut Down AIT, ThisDay, Others Over Unpaid Salaries

A Lady Led The One Hour Ikorodu Robbery, Robbers Made Away With Over N80m

                               

More details have emerged about the Ebute Ikorodu robbery which took place yesterday. According to sources, the robbery started around 9am in the morning and did not end until an hour after, 10:00am. Some set of young men stormed the Zenith Bank of Ebute Ikorodu led by a young lady and asked that the bank door be opened, obviously, the bank’s security guards who heard gunshots as the robbers announced themselves had already fled and when they got to the entrance they screamed at the people inside to open the door but no one answered.

Pirates kill four policemen in Rivers

                                     

Four policemen, including an Assistant Superintendent of Police, were shot and killed by armed men suspected to be sea pirates. The policemen were said to be on patrol on the Abonema Wharf in Port Harcourt when the pirates, who were masked, suddenly appeared and opened fire on them.
One of the five occupants of the patrol boat, who survived the attack, reportedly jumped into the sea and swam to safety.

It was gathered that the hoodlums ambushed the unsuspecting marine policemen on their way to prevent criminal activities in the wharf and its environs. The sea pirates, who were 24 in number, came in four boats, each boat having six. An eyewitness told Southern City News that the incident, which occurred at about 3pm on Tuesday, caused panic within the Abonema Jetty as people scampered to safety on hearing gunshots by the sea pirates.

Kidnappers – Why They Prosper

                                

SOKA, Oyo State, on Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, made the map last year when police said they uncovered a den of kidnappers there. The graphic images of the discoveries were causes for concern. Public expectations that the police would investigate the matter were dashed.

Decaying body parts that littered the place and the 20 decomposing bodies found there were inadequate to elicit police action. Twenty-three people – 18 men and five women – were rescued from their fleeing captors. The police had ignored complaints from residents about suspicious activities of the kidnappers.
Among the women rescued was one who reportedly had a baby on the day the police arrived, the baby was missing. Police confirmed arresting seven persons in connection with the discovery of human parts in the bush, about a kilometre off the busy expressway.

Pandemonium in Oghara as soldiers kill vigilante leader

                             

OGHARA—SOLDIERS attached to 19 Military Battalion, Koko, Delta State, yesterday, trailed and shot dead the chairman of Oghara Vigilante Group in Ethiope-West Local Government Area, Mr. Benson Ogedegbe, in broad daylight. 

There was commotion in the community soon after the killing as residents took to the streets in protest, while the Executive Director of Africa Network for Economic and Environmental Justice, ANEEJ,s Mr. David Ugolor, called on the Inspector General of Police to fish out and prosecute the trigger-happy soldiers.

LAGOS—Unknown gunmen, Monday, shot dead Lagos State Coordinator of The Lord’s Chosen Charis-matic Revival Ministries, Pastor Chukwuemeka Okpokpo, at Apple Junction, Amuwo Odofin area of the state.

The gunmen, said to have used a motorcycle, reportedly trailed the deceased from a Diamond Bank branch, where he had gone to withdraw N3 million for the church.

They reportedly fired shots into the air, which sent other road users and passers-by scampering for safety. Reports said Pastor Okpokpo tried to escape when it became obvious that he was the target.

The cash in the Excess Crude Account (ECA) is $2.078 billion, the Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Finance, Mrs Anastasia Nwaobia, said yesterday. Mrs Nwaobia, who addressed reporters after the monthly Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC) meeting in Abuja, said the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) has not refunded the $1.48 billion it was directed to refund to the nation’s coffers as recommended after the forensic audit of the alleged missing cash from the Federation Account.

President Muhammadu Buhari said Tuesday in Abuja that his administration has received firm assurances of cooperation from the United States and others on the recovery of funds stolen from Nigeria.

A Nigerian internet fraudster known as the ‘king of dating’ for his sophisticated tactics of online manipulation has given an eye-opening confession at a Lagos-based church.  


Samuel Johnson, an Edo State indigene, explained that his journey into advanced internet scamming began in The University of Port Harcourt after he joined the ‘Black-Axe’ cult.

“I followed them into a very thick forest during the night of initiation,” the young man narrated. He was just 19 years old at the time. “We reached a place where there was a candle and a coffin encircled by 50 young men. They tortured us with canes until we started bleeding. They then cut my tongue on a razor blade and gave me something to drink.”

Death Toll From Pakistan Heatwave Hits 450

                    

The heatwave which started in Pakistan on Saturday and has killed over 120 as at Sunday/Monday morning has now killed atleast 330 people more. The total number of death now recorded according to AFP is now 450. May the Lord step into their boat.
