A 35-year-old man, Yinka Offehin, is battling for his life at a private hospital in Lagos State after his scrotum was cut by the children of his landlady.

The Edo State indigene, who resides on Popoola Street, off Abaranje Road in the Ikotun area of Lagos, was said to have been attacked while sleeping in his room with his family members.

His wife, Bisi, who was with him when the incident happened, identified the assailants as Solomon and Damilola, the children of the landlady.

She said, “On Thursday morning, around 3am, while we were sleeping, we heard loud bangs on our door. We initially thought they were armed robbers because the house beside ours had recently been robbed.

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has arrested a 39-year old motorcycle parts dealer, Ogbodo Chibuzor David for trying to smuggle 11.06kg of dried weeds that tested positive for cannabis to China.

The BringBackOurGirls movement has debunked reports that some of the abducted Chibok school girls might have been used in suicide bombings in Kano and other parts of the north Boko Haram.

It said there was no clear evidence linking the girls to any suicide activities.

18-Year Old Female Bomber Responsible For Yesterday’s Kano Bomb Blast

An 18-year old female has been identified as the female suicide bomber who was responsible for the bomb explosion that occurred along Zoo Road near Shoprite Kano yesterday 28 of July, 2014 at about 1:40pm.

However, the suicide bomber was unable to reach her target point due to the already heavy security in the state by the police, which made the bomb detonate on her outside her target, and wounded 6 people in the process.

Islamic Cleric, Sheikh Dahiru Bauchi, narrowly escaped being killed by a Bomb blast in Kaduna that targeted his convoy on Wednesday. The attack came after the closing ceremony of his yearly Ramadan Tafsir at Murtala Square, Kaduna.

Pandemonium broke out in the Asipa community as an apprentice bricklayer, identified as Rasheed Sulaiman, was shot dead while testing the potency of a bullet-proof charm given to him by a herbalist.

The Minority Leader of House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila has advised the Federal Government to explore trade by barter option in its effort to step up military hardware and train military personnel instead of piling up debts for the country.

The APC and Leader of Opposition in the green chamber through a statement issued by his research and media aide, Wasiu Olanrewaju-Smart on Sunday in Abuja expressed dismay at President Jonathan’s penchant for loans when the country has sovereign wealth fund, reserve and excess oil revenue.

He stated that, “the federal government by setting an illegal benchmark has been creaming off about $ 30 per barrel of our crude oil sales which it puts in an illegal excess crude account. If it insists on cash it should reach into that illegal account. Again it also set up the Sovereign Wealth Fund, a component of which it described as future generation account. Well Madam Minister, the Chibok girls represent the future generation, go into that account if you must. Assuming the National Assembly will allow that. About 60 students of the Enugu State University of Science and Technology (ESUT), narrowly escaped death on Thursday, following a mysterious fire that engulfed a Shuttle bus conveying them from the institution to the city. The bus caught fire, few metres away from the Enugu State Broadcasting Service (ESBS), Enugu and the Nigerian Television Authority, (NTA), Enugu.

Although there were no deaths, many of the students and other passengers sustained serious injuries in the near stampede that resulted while escaping to safety through the widows and other exit available spaces in the bus.
